PocketWAW V2 (Pocket Where Are We) is the first of many
products from Locus to incorporate the RaveGeo
streaming vector mapping system. It is based on the initial version of PocketWAW
from iMappping Ltd which uses raster maps, either streamed via the internet
or stored locally. By upgrading the product to RaveGeo
technology data transfer costs are dramatically reduced and speed is dramatically
increased. In the offline version the whole country can now be stored on
a memory card, rather than just selected towns and cities in the raster
version.
We are also working on solutions for Java and Symbian mobile phones. See
how this will look like here.
This software for PocketPC or Windows Mobile powered PDA's and phones such
as the iMate, delivers maps over any type of internet connection. It is
ideal for those that have a GPRS or CDMA wireless connection. For those
without a wireless connection, or to reduce traffic costs, maps can be stored
locally and the program used in offline mode.
If you have GPS receiver connected to the PDA you can view your position
and direction of travel on the maps.
